Correspondence with Legistlators
- 2002: In letters to the Karnataka legislators and the
Members of Parliament, ESG has referred to financial, environmental and
social aspects of BMICP and also asked them to look at better transport
options for the Bangalore-Mysore corridor.

Correspondence with Financial Institutions
- 2002: The International Finance Corporation, (IFC), has significant equity stake
in SREI International Finance Ltd, which is
beleived to be financing elements of BMIC. ESG has written to SREI stating that since SREI is
receiving IFC funding, SREI is required to ensure that the BMIC project is following applicable
World Bank policies and guidelines, and Indian environmental, health and safety laws,
regulations and standards.
- 2002: In these letters, the Environment Support
Group, Bangalore (ESG), refers the financial
institutions to the RBI requirements regarding the financing of
infrastructure projects, vide it's circular of Feb 20, 2002.

June 2002: Letters to statutory environment authorities
- In these letters ESG has asked for disclosure of the status regarding fulfillment of
conditions, on the basis of which environmental clearance was given to the expressway
component of the BMIC project.
- June 17, 2002: Letter to KSPCB on
the status of fulfilment of conditions to clearances given by the state government.
- June 17, 2002: Letter to MoEF on
the status of fulfilment of conditions to clearances given by the Central government.
- June 18, 2002: Letter to MoEF requesting for availability of the six-monthly monitoring report
June 2002: Letters to statutory human rights authorities
- In this letter, ESG has enquired about open case pending at the NHRC, New Delhi.
- June 17, 2002: Letter to NHRC enquiring about the decision regarding the pending case on human rights violations of the petitioner at
the environmental public hearings of the BMIC project, held 2000. The letter also points out that
clearances have proceeded without due regard to the open case pending with the NHRC.
