At the outset, thank you very much for directing the government to release all documents regarding the Bangalore - Mysore Infrastructure Project. We are happy at your prompt response to letters from hundreds of foreigners who were justifiably annoyed to our claim to be a stable democracy when we brutally beat up men and women who request information.
The Hon'ble Revenue Minister has so far not provided any information even after a week of his press conference. We are sure that you would go a step further and order the Revenue Department to provide all documents sought by groups so that unnecessary misconceptions about the project can end.
We would like to remember the promise you made to the citizens of Bellary on the occassion of the AICC(I) president sacrificing her Lok Sabha seat. You had then said that your government would make all efforts to develop the industrial potential in the district.
With the large number of steel units coming up in the Bellary - Sandur belt, the district has a tremendous potential to become the hub of the Iron & Steel Industry in India. You have been succesful in attracting investments in Toranagallu even during the recent GIM summit. Your promise of investments of more than Rs.3,000 crores in Bellary would more than double if you can take the step of relocating the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited from Kudremukh to Sandur.
The benefits would treble since :
1> It would improve employment opportunities in the North Karnataka Area.
2> It would help protect the Kudremukh National Park & other tiger reserves
like the Bhadra Sanctuary. and
3> Help you keep up your commitments to Bellary District.
You may have already received detailed papers from the Environment Support Group on why the Kudremukh National Park needs to be saved. There is not much point in reieterating the same.
We trust you would initiate action to relocate KIOCL from Kudremukh to Sandur.
Thanking you again,
Yours sincerely,
Narendra KV

Note : Copies of this letter is sent to the Hon'ble Union Minister for
Environment & the PMO to highlight the strong feelings of Kannadigas on the
project and request them to help you in your mission to develop Bellary and
North Karnataka.
